Location:  Hybrid; home and Toronto

Description:

The GPO is looking for an experienced and strategically minded Director of Communications to join our senior leadership team. The selected candidate will work collaboratively to develop and execute the Party’s strategic communications plan and will work directly with our elected MPPs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, support and provide mentorship to staff on the GPO communications team
  • Provide strategic comms advice and direction to MPPs and senior team members
  • Develop and implement communications and media relations strategies and lead the team on the development of all messaging and communications materials
  • Work with the team to build strong relationships with provincial media and other stakeholders 
  • Identify issues that may have an effect on the Party and its MPPs and provide risk analysis 
  • Support the team with and oversee the creation of all content development (social media, print, web, etc.)
  • Work with MPPs and senior team to develop priorities for the Party and MPPs 
  • Manage the department’s budget and allocate resources to meet Party goals

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years of experience as a senior manager in a communications position
  • A strategic thinker and project manager with the ability to set priorities.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team and to foster a collaborative working environment.
  • Ability to communicate persuasively, both written and orally
  • Understanding of and interest in Ontario politics
  • Ability to adapt and change course when balancing competing priorities
  • Passion & commitment to social and environmental change in Ontario
