Sari has lived in the Hastings – Lennox and Addington riding for her entire life. Though she spent time travelling and attending College and University in different regions of Ontario, she has always called Stirling home.
Sari spent many summers of her childhood performing with the Stirling Festival Theatre’s Young Company, playing soccer in the Stirling and District Minor Soccer League, and observing her father growing the family’s vegetables in his organic vegetable garden. Her childhood was marked with winters of family skating on the pond or cross-country skiing through nearby conservation areas and summers swimming, camping, and canoeing in Ontario’s provincial parks. These experiences and adventures have formed her deep appreciation and great respect for nature.
Sari worked with Parks Canada on the Trent-Severn Waterway during summers off from University, being awarded the “Outstanding Student of the Year” award for having created a recycling program for the Trent-Severn Waterway system. She voluntarily created, implemented, and trained staff to use a recycling program in the restaurants she worked in.
Her passion to preserve the natural environment led her to study Environmental Resources Studies at the University of Waterloo. After a slight emotional burnout before her final year, she took a year off to pursue holistic healing in the hopes of healing her new found sense of hopelessness, despair, and anxiety at the magnitude of the environmental plight. Through the use of a variety of holistic healing methods, Sari learned how to handle the mal-aise of watching the spaces she loves and the planet she lives on becoming contaminated and polluted. Mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health are issues very near to her heart. The Green Party’s commitment to supporting mental health and the Green spaces we love are of highest value to her.
Sari is running as the Hastings- Lennox and Addington Green Candidate because she knows the Party’s policies on fiscal economics and transparent accounting, preserving and protecting the ecosystems and Green spaces that sustain us, while unleashing the booming economic potential of the renewable energy sector is the only path forward.
Sari currently runs her own small Registered Massage Therapy business in the heart of Stirling. Planning for and preparing methods to deal with the increasingly catastrophic affects of climate change as we are beginning to experience in Hastings – Lennox and Addington with lower crop yields, shorter and increasingly intermittent growing seasons, droughts, floods, ice and wind storms, and now a migration of ticks in our wilderness backyards is crucial. The Green Party is the only party sincerely having this conversation and showing an honest, transparent and accosted budget to pay for it.
