Patrick Macklem

A long-time Torontonian and Professor Emeritus of Law, Patrick Macklem is running to be the next MPP for Spadina–Fort York. He is committed to restoring responsible government in Ontario and is a strong advocate for local businesses, affordable housing, and accessible mental health care.

For 35 years, Patrick has provided legal advice to provincial and federal governments, Indigenous peoples, trade unions, and equality-seeking groups in Canada and around the world. A graduate of McGill University, the University of Toronto, and Harvard Law School, he brings a wealth of experience to provincial politics.

As Justice Critic for the Ontario Greens, Patrick led the call for a criminal investigation into the Greenbelt scandal and advised on multiple Integrity Commissioner investigations into Ford government misconduct.

Premier Ford called this election to distract from the economic and political havoc his government has created—undermining public health care, making affordable housing a pipe dream, and imposing his will on Toronto. Now, he is seeking a mandate for blatant overreach of executive power to address the threat of U.S. sanctions—an international issue entirely outside his jurisdiction.
