About Mark Harrison
Mark Harrison brings a wealth of diverse international experience and a deep commitment to the Niagara region. Originally from England, Mark grew up in a family-owned hotel, where
he developed a strong work ethic and a passion for entrepreneurship. Over the years, Mark has owned and managed businesses in England, Scotland, South Africa, and Canada. His
Canadian ventures have included a coffee shop in Oakville and, for the past 25 years, two successful Bulk Barn franchises in the Niagara region.
Now, in the next chapter of his life, Mark is turning his focus entirely to preserving and enhancing the Niagara environment. He believes that the region’s future should not be defined by unchecked development, but by a focus on its natural strengths: its incredible geography and ecosystems. Mark envisions Niagara, as a place where conservation and sustainable tourism create rewarding career opportunities and a thriving economy.
Mark is also deeply concerned about the rising food prices at grocery stores and the fairness of compensation for local farmers. As someone with extensive experience in the food industry, he understands the challenges farmers face and is committed to advocating for policies that ensure they are paid fairly for their hard work. A passionate environmental volunteer, Mark dedicates his time to the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority and The David Suzuki Foundation, where he works to protect the region’s natural spaces and tackle the global challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss.
Mark resides in Wainfleet with his wife, Jennifer, and their cat, Piper, who, as Mark often jokes, runs the household. He has three grown children, and a grandson and enjoys running, cycling, hiking, and reading in his spare time. With his unique background and commitment to sustainability, Mark is driven to represent Niagara in a way that ensures a brighter, greener future for all.
