About Joshua Miersch
Joshua Miersch is a maintenance technician, an environmental studies student at York University, an aspiring high school teacher, and a young green. He has lived his entire life in the Don Valley East community and wants to see the community thrive.
Joshua is running for the Ontario Greens to help our environment – where we work, live, and play – thrive. As an optimist, Joshua sees the true potential of what a community can do. Don Valley East is as beautiful of a community as they come. Growing up here, Joshua saw this first hand, biking around the Don Valley trails and paths almost every day during the summer months. He also understands and values the importance of community centres, as an avid user of these facilities for ice skating, sports, and other collaborative activities, he sees these spaces as staples of the community.
Joshua has also delivered cutting edge governance considerations for a sports facility’s environmental initiatives in operations and capital expenditures. He researched and brought to fruition a change in their landfill diversion policies to energy from waste, led earth day and earth hour initiatives, and worked with Chefs on locavore growing.
With the Don Valley and the Don River flowing right through the community, Joshua sees the importance of positive environmental policies. Along with this, he is passionate about transportation planning, tackling social/environmental justice issues, and finding sustainable solutions to the housing and climate crisis’.
Most Importantly, Joshua wants to hear what you have to say, your thoughts, and help your voices and concerns be heard.
