About Ian Morton

Ian is a passionate educator, who prioritizes community building, compassion, equity, and solving difficult problems. In this election the citizens of Perth-Wellington will face an important choice. Ian will listen to the concerns of the people of Perth-Wellington and work to ensure we have a better tomorrow-one focussed on affordability and stewardship of our land, one that works to create more affordable housing. A future that keeps our ER’s open while ensuring health care is properly funded. One that builds systems and makes choices to deal with climate change.

Ian entered politics in the 2022 Stratford municipal election, coming just shy of victory but earning strong support by listening to residents’ concerns. He focussed his campaign on the issues that were brought forth by citizens. In this same way we can build more caring and healthy communities in Perth-Wellington. Our provincial government must do more to hear and act on the concerns of the people of Perth-Wellington. Ian will work to make sure that happens.

Through his 25 year career in education, Ian has honed his leadership and collaborative skills. Ian has served on the City of Stratford Energy and Environment Committee (Chair), the Active Transportation Advisory Committee (Vice-Chair), and the St. Marys Curling Club board (President). Ian founded the not-for-profit Stratford Sabrecats Track Club in 2018, and still serves as its president and head coach, leading growth and providing opportunities for youth to build skills and work hard to meet goals. Ian has also been active in local union leadership and the ETFO’s Provincial Standing Committee on the Environment.

Ian’s commitment to collaboration, problem-solving and helping others will drive his work for Perth-Wellington. This election is crucial, and Ian will ensure that we find serious solutions to the challenges we face.
