Alexandra Zalucky is an organic farmer, dedicated meditation practitioner, and avid runner. She has been living and working in Sutton West for the past five years. Alexandra has been inspired to become the Green Party of Ontario candidate for York Simcoe because she regards climate change as one of the most critical issues of our times- posing both challenges and opportunities for humankind- and she is certain that the Green Party offers the best approach forward.
Alexandra studied Political Science at the University of Toronto, then went on to complete a Master’s of Social Work for Wilfred Laurier University. She worked at the Christie-Ossington Neighbourhood Centre for several years, before realizing her passion for organic farming. While honing her farming skills she also managed a farmers’ market which taught her the business and marketing side of farming. Alexandra has now focused her full attention on growing organic vegetables, at times blending her social work background with farming by hiring individuals living with mental illness and/ or addiction to work the fields with her.
When not tending to her crops, Alexandra enjoys running, biking, reading, and sharing good meals with loved ones. In the off-season, Alexandra likes to spend her time at the Ontario Vipassana Centre, taking meditation courses and volunteering at the Centre.
