Save Wasaga Beach – Protect Piping Plover Habitat

Doug Ford is trying to sell off portions of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park – critical nesting habitat for the endangered Piping Plover.

Piping Plovers nearly disappeared from Ontario before a small population began returning to Wasaga Beach in 2007 to breed. If we destroy their habitat, we may never see Piping Plovers back in Ontario again.

Ford’s proposal would:

  • Make it easier to hand public parkland to developers
  • Threaten the survival of endangered species like Piping Plovers
  • Destroy spaces Ontario communities rely on for recreation, connection, and climate resilience

This is more than Wasaga Beach, it’s a blueprint for privatizing Ontario’s provincial parks, piece by piece.

We must stand up for Piping Plovers, defend public land, and stop Ford’s environmental rollbacks.
