Protect Ontario’s farms to protect local food
It’s Local Food Week – a time to recognize hardworking farmers and all the fresh, local, Ontario food they help put on dinner tables across the province.
But every week, we lose the equivalent of nine family farms every week to urban sprawl, aggregate mining, and wasteful projects like Highway 413.
We can’t afford to lose any more.
The Ontario Green’s Protect Our Food Act would create a Foodbelt to permanently protect our farmland – so generations to come can enjoy fresh, local food.
In the face of Trump’s tariffs, we must act now to protect Ontario’s $50 billion agricultural sector, and the 1 in 9 Ontarians it employs.
Celebrate Local Food Week with the Ontario Greens and help us create a foodbelt for the future.
