Because Mental Health is Health
We’ve all been there—or we know someone who has. That feeling of reaching out for help only to find a long waitlist or a bill you can’t afford.
In Ontario, over 36% of adults are navigating moderate to serious psychological distress. That’s not just a statistic; that’s our neighbors, our kids, and our colleagues. But while the need is growing—with 15.6% of us facing serious distress—the system meant to support us is falling behind.
The Human Cost of the Gap
Ontario has the lowest healthcare funding per person in Canada. This has pushed more services into the private sector.
What we can do about it:
It doesn’t have to stay this way. We’re advocating for a system where:
- Support is local: Counselors and social workers are available and accessible in your community
- Care is timely: We fund community services so people aren’t stuck on waitlists for months.
- Workers are respected: We pay our healthcare heroes fairly so they can afford to keep doing their vital work.
Care should be about people, not profits. Join us in telling Minister Sylvia Jones and Associate Minister Vijay Thanigasalam that every Ontarian deserves a public mental health system they can actually rely on.
