Schreiner questions Ford’s tunnel intentions

“Doug Ford is once again putting his own interests ahead of the people of Ontario. He’s choosing to plow ahead with his fantasy 401 tunnel despite warnings from both experts and Ministry of Transportation staff.

In his announcement earlier this year, Ford failed to mention that a tunnel feasibility study previously completed in 2021 had concluded the project wouldn’t work, and could even pose risks to public safety.

So why is the premier willing to waste even more time and taxpayer money repeating this study, except to benefit his inner circle of wealthy, well-connected insiders?

I’m calling on Doug Ford to come clean with the people of Ontario, release the full 2021 feasibility study and halt any plans to waste our money for further feasibility study work.

Instead of wasting time and money on impractical and dangerous vanity projects, this government should take meaningful action to address gridlock in the GTA by building affordable transit and connected communities so that people don’t have to spend hours stuck in gridlock.”
