Ontario Greens announce Plan for Working Families
February 18, 2025
TORONTO — On Family Day, Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner and Deputy Leader Aislinn Clancy announced the party’s Plan for Working Families to make life more affordable.
“So many families in Ontario are struggling to get by right now,” said Schreiner. “Whether it’s on your rent or mortgage payment, or your grocery bill, the affordability crisis is hitting working families hard. No matter how hard you work, it can feel like you’re not able to get ahead. It’s not fair.”
“I hear everyday from families in Kitchener that are feeling the pinch and getting gouged,” said Clancy. “It shouldn’t be so hard to make ends meet.”
“Families deserve to be able to pay the rent or make their mortgage payments, buy fresh food, or even take their families on a trip for March Break. That’s why our Plan for Working Families will make life more affordable:
- Cut income taxes for households making under 100K
- Increase affordable child care spaces by addressing the shortage and retention of early childhood educators by immediately increasing wages for child care workers
- Address surging grocery prices by introducing strict anti-gouging and collusion laws to stop grocery corporations from gouging people on their grocery bills
- Save families up to $150,000 on the purchase of their first home, by removing fees and taxes”
