Mike Schreiner and Matt Richter announce Richter’s 5-Point Plan for Parry Sound–Muskoka
February 4, 2025
BRACEBRIDGE — Ontario Greens’ leader Mike Schreiner was in Parry Sound–Muskoka to support Deputy Leader and local candidate Matt Richter’s 5-Point Plan for the riding.
“The people of Parry Sound–Muskoka need a government and MPP that takes our community’s concerns seriously,” Richter said. “Doug Ford has abandoned our community to waste billions on unnecessary projects in the GTA while people here in Parry Sound–Muskoka are struggling to pay their heating bills and rent, and to find a family doctor.”
“I’ve marched with my fellow teachers as they fight for smaller class sizes for our kids. I’ve watched as Doug Ford sold out main street, leaving small businesses owners to fend for themselves. And I see the impacts that climate change is already having on our lives and our kids’ futures.”
Richter’s 5-Point Plan for Parry Sound–Muskoka will take action to address 5 local concerns:
- Investing in Rural Healthcare— by fighting for two new hospitals in Huntsville and Bracebridge that serve the needs of each community, and recruiting more family doctors so the 20,000 people in Parry Sound – Muskoka without one can have better care close to home.
- Helping You Save Money— by getting Ontario back in the business of building affordable homes and rentals and helping you save money on heating and support for local businesses hit hard by tariffs.
- Protecting Our Environment—safeguarding our watershed, working with Indigenous communities to conserve 30% of natural areas by 2030, and supporting our forestry industry.
- Funding Rural Infrastructure and Municipalities—because our roads, bridges, and local services deserve long-term investment, not short-term fixes.
- Investing in Our Kids—clearing the backlog in school repairs, supporting students with special needs, and extending OHIP to cover mental health care.
“I’m not Matt’s boss, the people of Parry Sound Muskoka are,” said Schreiner. “The hard work and dedication that went into putting together this localized plan shows the value of having a local champion you can trust in Queen’s Park. As your MPP, Matt will continue to work tirelessly to help people get back on their feet after being abandoned by Doug Ford’s government. And he’ll do it by listening to your priorities.”
Tomorrow, Schreiner will be in Wellington–Halton Hills with Green candidate and Centre-Wellington Councillor Bronwynne Wilton to announce the Ontario Greens’ Grow Ontario Plan to support local food and farmers.
