Mike Schreiner responds to early election call

January 25, 2025

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the Premier’s confirmation that he will call an election on January 29.

“In the face of looming tariff threats, Ontario needs stability, not an election. We need to demonstrate strength through unity to defend Canadian workers, Canadian jobs and Canadian companies.

But Doug Ford is putting his job before your job.

The people of this province need a united front to make their lives more affordable and safeguard our economy.

But in Doug Ford’s Ontario, the rich are getting richer while everyday people are struggling just to get by.

He cares more about saving his own job than he does about bringing costs down or making your life better.

All the things that a provincial government should do – build affordable homes, make sure we have doctors and nurses, safe schools – Doug Ford has walked away from, putting profits before people.

Ontario Greens have a different vision.

We’re not working for big corporations and billionaires. We’re working for the people of this province.

We’re running local champions like Aislinn Clancy in Kitchener Centre and Matt Richter in Parry Sound-Muskoka who are going to be your voice at Queen’s Park.

Greens are ready to fight for the Ontario we all deserve.”
