Mike Schreiner and MPP Aislinn Clancy visit WLU to connect with young voters and show support for students

January 24, 2025

WATERLOO — Ontario Greens’ leader Mike Schreiner and Kitchener Centre MPP Aislinn Clancy visited Wilfrid Laurier University’s Waterloo Campus to listen to the concerns of students and faculty and check-in with young voters as Clancy’s re-election campaign continues to build momentum.

“Too many students and Gen Z voters feel that their voices aren’t being heard. I remember how that felt when I was a student here at WLU and I’m committed to making your concerns heard at Queen’s Park and making life more affordable for students” said Clancy.

“Aislinn gets the issues top of mind for students in Kitchener-Waterloo, including improving transit, finding an affordable place to live, and the need to increase funding for universities and colleges,” said Schreiner, “She gets it because she isn’t afraid of new ideas and values feedback from her community.”

“Aislinn isn’t here to cut funding to universities or stand up for billionaires, like Doug Ford is, while everyone else struggles to pay the bills. She’s here to make sure that we’re providing students with real solutions that will make their lives more affordable.”

Clancy and Schreiner met with representatives from the WLU Student’s Association and university faculty members before joining environmental researcher and Ontario Greens’ Waterloo candidate Shefaza Ismail to tour the University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Environment.
