Schreiner kicks off Local Champions Tour in London alongside candidate Carol Dyck, highlighting local affordable housing solutions

LONDON — Ontario Greens’ leader Mike Schreiner kicked off his “Local Champions Tour” alongside London North Centre candidate Carol Dyck.

The Local Champions Tour highlights the Ontario Greens’ support for local communities abandoned by Doug Ford’s government and spotlights the strong local leaders running for the party in the next provincial election.

“London is facing an affordable housing crisis that has gotten far worse since Ford took office in 2018,” said Dyck. “And more needs to be done to support people who have been abandoned by his government.”

“Carol works hard every day to be a voice for the people of London North Centre,” said Schreiner. “She has the knowledge and expertise needed to tackle London’s affordable housing crisis and her commitment to working with local community organizations will make sure she gets it done.”

“Doug Ford is spending billions of dollars on wasteful projects in the GTA – like Highway 413 and tunnelling under the 401 – while abandoning people in communities like London who can’t afford a home. We need to elect more Green MPPs that will fight for their local communities and put people before profits.”

Dyck and Schreiner visited Joan’s Place, a Youth Opportunities Unlimited hub with housing and wrap-around support services for youth experiencing homelessness, and one of Indwell’s low-income supportive housing projects to highlight how local, community-based solutions are tackling London’s affordable housing crisis.

Dyck and Schreiner also took time to hear directly from local constituents and were joined by Wil Osbourne-Sorell, the Ontario Greens’ candidate for London-Fanshawe.

Schreiner will continue his Local Champions Tourin Orangeville with former Mayor and local Dufferin-Caledon candidate Sandy Brown.
