Shefaza Esmail nominated as Ontario Greens candidate in Waterloo

WATERLOO — Shefaza Esmail has been nominated as the Ontario Greens’ candidate in Waterloo.

Esmail is an environmental researcher currently working with Mohawk College to help small and medium businesses adopt more sustainable practices. 

“We need a government that puts people before the corporate profits of fossil fuel companies, by investing in clean, renewable energy,” said Esmail. 

“And that process starts by engaging directly with our communities.”

“Shefaza is a community and environmental champion in Waterloo,” said Ontario Greens’ Leader Mike Schreiner. “Her knowledge and experience in the environmental sector will make her an effective advocate for fairer and more sustainable policies in Waterloo and across Ontario.”

Esmail is a proud new parent and enjoys playing an active role in her community as a member of numerous local groups including Mill-Courtland Community Centre, Climate Collaborative, and Citizens for Livable Development.
