Joel Loughead nominated as Ontario Greens candidate in Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound

January 6, 2025

OWEN SOUND — Municipal Councillor Joel Loughead has been named Ontario Greens’ candidate for Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound in the upcoming provincial election.

A municipal councillor in the Municipality of Grey Highlands, Loughead is running to protect his community’s green spaces, sensitive watersheds and world-class farmland from urban sprawl.

“I’m running because I believe in a government that puts people before profits and stands up for the people and places we love,” said Loughead.

“While Doug Ford has left communities like ours to fend for ourselves, Greens are fighting for more affordable homes, better rural healthcare and protections for our farms, forests and wetlands.”

“Joel is a local champion who will be your voice at Queen’s Park,” said Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner. “He’s not working for a political party – he’s working for you, and I know his energy and drive will get more done for the people of Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound.”

Before entering politics, Loughead was a full-time wine and cider maker, showcasing the best of what Grey and Bruce can grow.
