Mike Schreiner’s Statement on National Housing Day

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement to mark National Housing Day.

“National Housing Day is meant to remind us of the importance of providing safe, affordable housing to every single person in our province and country.

Unfortunately, the Ford government is taking Ontario in exactly the wrong direction.

That’s why Ontario recently recorded some of the lowest housing starts since the 1950s, and why young people are leaving the province in the hundreds of thousands because they can’t afford to live here anymore.

We know what it’s going to take to solve the housing crisis – build more homes in existing neighbourhoods, protect renters and invest in deeply affordable, non-market housing.

Greens will continue working tirelessly to make sure that everyone in our province has a home they can afford in a community they love.
