Young people fleeing Ontario’s sky-high housing prices

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to a new report showing that Ontarians are moving out of the province due to high housing costs.

“Housing is the top priority for so many Ontarians right now, and the Ford government has abandoned them – so much so that they’re uprooting our lives and leaving our province in search of something better.

Young people are leaving Ontario in droves to get away from Ontario’s brutal housing market, and still this government has no plan to build more homes and make them affordable for regular people.

We know what it’s going to take to fix the housing crisis: build affordable homes in existing neighbourhoods, protect renters and build deeply affordable non-market housing.

The Premier needs to stop talking and start doing – otherwise we’re going to see this trend worsen.”
