Schreiner speaks at Raise the Rates rally

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens leader Mike Schreiner addressed attendees of a rally organized by the Raise The Rates Coalition calling on the provincial government to end legislated poverty by raising social assistance rates.

“It is immoral and wrong that this government forces people to live in legislated poverty,” said Schreiner, who was the first opposition leader to call for the doubling of ODSP rates over two years ago.

“We have to more than double ODSP rates if we’re really going to put an end to this injustice.”

“People experiencing legislated poverty deserve a government that cares about them. We deserve a government that’s better than the Ford government.”
