Hurontario makes three (delayed LRTs)

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to news that the Hurontario LRT is facing financial barriers and legal issues that could delay the project’s completion date (originally announced as fall 2024).

“We’re now up to three LRT projects that won’t be finished by their scheduled completion date – all on this government’s watch.

Ontarians deserve accountability from their government. When it comes to projects like these that cost tens of billions of taxpayer dollars, they deserve to get what they paid for – on time and on budget.

It’s time for this government to step up and deliver a credible plan to get transit projects completed. It’s an essential part of any serious plan to reduce gridlock and give people more affordable options to get around.”
