Greens welcome investigation into Premier’s alcohol free-for-all

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to news Ontario’s Financial Accountability Office (FAO) will investigate the Ford government’s decision to accelerate the timeline for getting alcohol into convenience stores and gas stations.

“Ontarians want a government that invests in housing, healthcare and other everyday needs. But instead, we have one that’s giving hundreds of millions of dollars to the Beer Store to get alcohol into corner stores a year early.

This government is out of touch, and we deserve to know exactly how much it’s costing us.

I’m glad the FAO is looking into this expensive, questionable decision, and I hope the investigation brings us the answers we deserve.”
