Pollution so high you can’t open your windows: that’s Doug Ford’s Ontario

TORONTO — Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to news that pollution levels at the Port Lands gas plant are seven times too high for the construction of a planned housing development on Villiers Island to proceed as planned.

“Pollution levels so high that new buildings have to be constructed without functional windows on the top floors – that’s Doug Ford’s Ontario for you.

Nobody wants to live in a home where you can’t breathe the air outside. That the Ford government isn’t immediately springing into action is a complete failure to address basic public health.

When they wanted to close the Science Centre, it took them all of a few hours. When pollution at the Port Lands is so high that it impedes our ability to build new homes, the Ford government is nowhere to be found.

This is a government without a climate plan, and their years of inaction are negatively affecting the health and safety of Ontarians.
