More proof of Ford’s Science Centre politicking

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to news that a city inspection of the Ontario Science Centre conducted on the date of its abrupt closure found that critical roof areas had already been shored up and no immediate dangers were observed.

“These documents are the latest slew of evidence that the Science Centre closure was a blatantly political move orchestrated by the Ford government alone.

Other buildings – like the ROM or the CN Tower – are properly repaired and restored because we recognize their historical, cultural and educational value. Why not this building in this community?

There is no doubt that the current Science Centre needs significant repairs – the only roadblock is that the Premier does not see the value of the site and the financial, cultural and economic benefits it provides for the residents of Don Valley and people all across Ontario.

His priority has always been to prop up his Ontario Place privatization scheme, and Ontarians aren’t buying it.”
