Code red: Ford government continues privatization rampage

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to news that the Ford government has put out a call for private surgical clinics to submit licence applications to perform gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures.

“How many more cuts to public healthcare can our province take?

The Ford government has already decimated our healthcare system. Two-and-a-half million Ontarians are without a family doctor. A recent study just showed that low-income Ontarians are far less likely to receive privately funded care than wealthy patients.

What is it going to take to make this government see that private healthcare only leads to higher costs and poorer care?

Greens reaffirm our call on the Ford government to invest in a strong public healthcare system that puts patients before private profits.”
