Clancy tables motion to allow midrises on major streets

April 25, 2024

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens Deputy Leader Aislinn Clancy has tabled a motion calling on the Ford government to allow for six- to 11-story midrise homes along major streets, including transit corridors, within urban boundaries as of right.

“As the housing crisis continues to spiral out of control, life is becoming harder and more expensive for far too many Ontarians,” said Clancy.

“Meanwhile, outdated planning laws are still keeping us from building the mix of housing types we need to grow the communities we already spend our time in.

“By building more kinds of homes where people already live, we can create communities that work for Ontarians in all walks of life – whether it’s seniors looking to downsize or families just starting out.”
