Ontario Greens return to legislature with focus on making life easier and more affordable
February 16, 2024
QUEEN'S PARK — In the upcoming legislative session, Ontario Greens are prioritizing common-sense solutions to make life easier and more affordable – with a focus on housing and protecting public goods.
“For five years, ordinary Ontarians have paid the price for this government’s focus on sweetheart deals with well-connected insiders,” said Ontario Greens leader Mike Schreiner.
“Now, our province is caught in the crosshairs of so many connected crises that are making life harder and less affordable. Ontario Greens are demanding better.”
“Doug Ford’s failures are making housing less affordable, climate more expensive and healthcare less accessible,” said Deputy Leader Aislinn Clancy.
“Parents are working two or three jobs because they can’t afford to make rent. ER wait times are longer than they’ve ever been. Record-breaking wildfires, floods and droughts are costing us more every single year.”
As the legislature resumes, Ontario Greens are focused on delivering real relief where Ontarians need it most, starting with:
- Putting forward bold solutions to rein in soaring housing costs by legalizing housing, protecting renters and getting the government back into the business of affordable housing;
- Minimizing the cost of climate chaos by pushing to get Ontario off expensive fossil fuels, invest in low-cost renewables and build affordable, climate-friendly transit options; and
- Protecting public services that Ontarians rely on to make life easier and more affordable, including healthcare, education and support services.
