Green momentum grows as party doubles caucus with Aislinn Clancy win in Kitchener Centre

November 30, 2023

KITCHENER — Ontario Greens are thrilled to announce that Aislinn Clancy has been elected MPP for Kitchener Centre.

Clancy’s win, which will double the party’s caucus at Queen’s Park, is a sign of growing Green momentum in the province.

“I am so incredibly grateful to the Kitchener community for putting their trust in me,” Clancy told cheering supporters at her election night party. “To every single person who supported our campaign – thank you. I’m honoured to have you behind me, and I’m ready to be your voice at Queen’s Park.”

Clancy’s historic victory is the result of months of canvassing and conversations with tens of thousands of Kitchener residents.

“I’m so proud of my powerhouse campaign team, who have worked tirelessly over the past seven months to make this victory possible. This win was a team effort on all fronts, and I’m so grateful for everyone who poured their heart into it.

“Now, it’s time to take our fight for better housing, childcare, transit and more to Queen’s Park as we continue to stand against Doug Ford and his destructive agenda.”

Clancy, a school social worker and Kitchener City Councillor, will join Ontario Greens leader and MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner at Queen’s Park as an independent voice for Kitchener Centre.

“I’m extremely proud of everything Aislinn has accomplished over the course of this historic campaign,” said Schreiner. “Her compassion, her drive and her commitment to her community are unparalleled, and I know she’ll be an incredible advocate for her community.”

“Across the province, our Green wave is growing. It’s clear that our commitment to people over party is resonating with Ontarians – and we’ll keep working hard to bring home better for them.”
