For the people? Ontarians out $8.3 billion beg to differ

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens leader and MPP for Guelph, Mike Schreiner, released the following statement in response to Global News’ release of Doug Ford’s 2018 mandate letters.

“Doug Ford’s fight to keep his mandate letters secret is exactly what we’ve come to expect from a government that fails the accountability test at every turn.

Now, we finally know why the Premier fought so hard to hide the letters.

Because they’re yet another reminder that with their $8.3 billion Greenbelt scandal, the Ford government has done exactly what they promised not to.

Ontarians have had enough of broken promises. Enough of a Premier who governs by insider envelopes and back-door access.

Right now, this government should be laser-focused on restoring accountability in the wake of their $8.3 billion Greenbelt scandal.

If the Premier doesn’t see this, then he clearly doesn’t understand the people of Ontario.

Either that, or he just doesn’t care.”
