Back-door deals have become business-as-usual for Ford
February 10, 2023
GUELPH — Ontario Greens leader and MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to reports that developer presence at the Premier’s daughter’s stag and doe event raises new questions about Ford’s ties to the land speculators who purchased Greenbelt lands.
“As Ontario’s Premier, Doug Ford should hold himself to the highest possible standard of ethical behaviour – yet the reports we’re hearing about the presence of wealthy developer ‘friends’ at his daughter’s stag and doe don’t pass the smell test.
It’s clear that this type of behaviour has become a pattern for Ford. Just like those conveniently timed Greenbelt land deals, something is not adding up.
The people of Ontario deserve transparency: about how certain land speculators knew to buy parcels of then undevelopable Greenbelt land, and about why the Ford government puts speculator profits above the public good.”
