Ford’s budget fails on housing, mental health & supporting health-care workers
April 28, 2022
TORONTO — Mike Schreiner made the following statement in response to the Ford government's budget:
“It’s extremely disappointing that Ford’s budget fails to address the housing or mental health crisis.
It’s harder and harder for Ontarians to find an affordable place to live. The mental health crisis that’s been intensified by the pandemic is only getting worse by the day.
And despite frontline health-care workers bearing the brunt of the pandemic, they were ignored in this budget. Imagine being overworked and underpaid in an overburdened health-care system, being the backbone of Ontario’s pandemic response, and getting no support from the Ford government today?
It’s a slap in the face.
We need to build a more caring Ontario where everyone can have an affordable place to call home and access to the care and support they need.
But the best Doug Ford can offer up is election gimmicks like licence plate stickers and gas tax cuts. This is not leadership and certainly not the caring Ontario we want.”
