Ontario Greens oppose lack of consultation on Chinese medicine deregulation

QUEEN'S PARK — Mike Schreiner made the following statement in response to Doug Ford's plan to deregulate traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists:

“It’s completely unacceptable that Doug Ford proposed this legislation without proper consultation.

Deregulation of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture devalues its rich history and undermines its legitimacy as valid and effective medical treatment. It’s a disservice to the profession as a whole, and removes important protections for the public.

This continues a pattern of Ford bypassing adequate consultation, whether it’s about deregulating health care or pushing through environmentally destructive sprawl developments.

Ontario Greens call on the Ford government to properly consult with traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists before disrupting the profession with legislation.”
