GUELPH – Mike Schreiner delivered his annual holiday message from his home riding of Guelph:

“As we begin the holiday season, I want to thank all of our frontline workers who have helped keep Ontario going through this difficult year.

We began 2021 with one of the hardest waves of the COVID-19 pandemic, but also with the hope of recovery.
And while we are ending 2021 still in the midst of a pandemic, we have learned so much this year.

We have learned that we can rely on science. Vaccines work and they offer us better protection to avoid serious illness.

We have learned that children need to be in safer, properly ventilated, classrooms – so they can learn effectively and avoid negative mental health impacts.

We have learned that there is no recovery without small businesses.

And that we need to support parents, especially mothers, with affordable childcare so that women can get back into the workforce.

And with the intense wildfires and flooding we’ve seen across the world this year, we have all learned that Canada can no longer rely on half measures to solve the climate crisis.

Ontario Greens have worked hard this year to address these challenges and more, by offering real solutions to building a greener and more caring Ontario.

Why?

Because you deserve to build the world you want with the leadership you need to get us there.

We have so much to be thankful for this year – our health, our family and friends, our chance to do better.

But many have lost a lot this year as well and have had a difficult year – my heart goes out to you. I hear you.

And I will continue to listen and work hard for you.

And I will especially work hard for all those people who are struggling to find an affordable place to call home.

My hope as we head into 2022 is that Ontarians will continue to come together, like they always do in times of need, to strengthen our resolve to overcome this pandemic, to help our province heal and recover.

And to build a greener and more caring Ontario.

And we can do it by helping one another and protecting the people and places we love.

On behalf of the Ontario Greens – thank you for your continued support and please have a safe and happy holiday season.”
