Ford’s Housing Task-Force doesn’t represent the diversity of Ontario
December 6, 2021
TORONTO — Mike Schreiner made the following statement in response to the Ontario government's new housing affordability task force
QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner made the following statement in response to the Ontario government’s new housing affordability task force:
“How can this government say they’re serious about tackling housing affordability, and then appoint a task force dominated by real estate executives?
We need a task force that represents the diversity of Ontario. And is made up of people that actually understand the realities of the housing affordability crisis — not the people who profit from it.
The market alone can’t solve the housing affordability crisis.
We need investments in non-profit, co-op and social housing to ensure everyone has an affordable place to live. And people from these sectors should be at the table.”
