More irresponsible fast-tracked developments

QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement on the Dominion Foundries land:

“The Premier owes it to the people of Ontario to have an open and transparent process for the sale of public assets.

It is unacceptable for the government to go behind the back of Ontarians to offer a special backroom deal.

If reports are true, an agreement of purchase and sale of the Foundries land has been approved since last September.

And according to Justice Corbett’s ruling the government’s demolition contravenes the Heritage Act.

Whether it is heritage buildings or provincially significant wetlands, the government is using Covid as cover to take a wrecking ball to the places we love.

Ford owes it to Ontarians to stop exploiting MZOs to fast-track ill-advised developments that threaten important public assets like heritage buildings and wetlands.”
