TORONTO — Mike Schreiner released the following statement regarding the government’s continued exploitation of MZOs and the Duffins Creek protests:
“Doug Ford may think Ontarians have moved on from his attack on Conservation Authorities, but I assure you they haven’t.
The Ford government is misusing an MZO to wreak havoc on environmental protections.
Ontarians have a right to say no to the destruction of their wetlands. And the recent protests at Duffins Creek show how much local communities care about laws that protect people, property and communities.
They understand the crucial role wetlands play in preventing mass flooding.
And their importance to the health of the province and its people.
Ford needs to respect the environment and repeal Schedule 6. He needs to restore power to Conservation Authorities to protect us from flooding and irresponsible development.
Stop paving over the places we love. It is dangerous and wrong.”
