Ford needs to stand up for workers

TORONTO — Mike Schreiner released the following statement on paid sick days:

“The current COVID-19 crisis in Ontario has taught us many lessons – one being that when someone feels sick they should stay home.

But when the Ford government revoked paid sick days in 2018, it forced low-wage employees to choose between their health and their income.

This is not right.

It’s time for the Premier to stand up for workers and restore paid sick days while providing support for small businesses to help institute this crucial policy.

If people are going to be able to stay home, they shouldn’t have to worry about putting food on the table when they’re sick.”
