Premier downplays COVID-19 risks in classrooms

September 17, 2020

The virus doesn’t differentiate between a house party and a classroom. It is hypocritical for the Premier to mandate smaller dinner parties, while continuing to put our children at risk.

QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement after the Premier downplayed the COVID-19 risks in schools in his press conference:

“The Premier clearly hasn’t been to a Kindergarten class if he thinks kids aren’t coming into close contact.

While I agree with tough new rules on social gatherings, this logic needs to apply across the board.

There is some cognitive dissonance if the Premier thinks a 30-student classroom is safe, but an 11-person dinner party is not.

The Premier does not get to pick and choose how a deadly virus spreads.

The government used to praise health experts like Sick Kids, but now it is flat out ignoring their advice on class sizes.

The Premier wants individuals to act more responsibly, while continuing his own irresponsible actions on education.”
