Gas stickers a waste of time and money

TORONTO, ON — Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Ontario, Abhijeet Manay, released the following statement after the Ontario Supreme Court struck down the government’s mandatory anti-carbon tax stickers:

“Today the Ontario Supreme Court revealed what we knew all along: the Ford government is wasting taxpayers’ money playing politics with the climate crisis.

The court called out the government’s partisan messaging as ‘incomplete in such a way that it does not convey the true state of facts.’

The amount of time, resources and money being wasted on Ford’s politically charged, anti-science campaign is shameful.

Instead of political advertising on gas pumps, we need a government that will retrofit homes and buildings to lower energy costs, and that will help people make the switch to electric vehicles.

We need real solutions to the climate crisis that will take advantage of the $26 trillion global clean economy and create good local jobs as part of our COVID-19 recovery.”
