Green Party of Ontario Statement on National Seniors Day

TORONTO — GPO leader and Guelph MPP Mike Schreiner issued the following statement for International Day of Older Persons / National Seniors Day:

“National Seniors Day is an important day to reflect on the contributions of seniors to our society. It is also a day to ask whether we are doing everything we can to make the lives of seniors better in our communities. I encourage everyone in Ontario to take a moment to thank an older person in your life today and to offer to assist them in any way you can.

Our seniors deserve the best. They deserve assistive and transitional living facilities to support their specific needs. They deserve the opportunity to age in place and stay in their communities as long as possible. They deserve quality health services to address the unique health challenges they face. And they deserve cities and communities that are fully accessible and age-friendly.

Today, the Green Party of Ontario celebrates the many ways that older persons enrich our province and commits to working tirelessly to make Ontario a better place for them to live.”
