Ford government shutting out the people by hiding mandate letters

TORONTO — Green Party leader, Mike Schreiner, issued the following statement in response to revelations that Premier Ford is not releasing mandate letters to ministers:

“I am disappointed and concerned that Premier Ford is hiding his mandate letters from the people we are elected to serve. For a government that claims to have been elected to restore trust and accountability, this does exactly the opposite.

What is the Premier hiding from the people of Ontario?

First the Premier fails to campaign on a costed platform. Now he is afraid to let people know what he expects his cabinet to accomplish.  Does the Premier have a hidden agenda? Why is he refusing to be held accountable?

Ontarians deserve better than a leader who governs by surprise. They deserve honesty and transparency about what the next four years will look like.”
