Today, the GPO stands with those who are suffering or have lost loved ones as a result of HIV/AIDS.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the first published reports about HIV/AIDS, a disease that has caused devastation around the world. Since then, there have been great strides made in the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, however there is still much to be done.
More than 75,000 Canadians and 30,000 Ontarians are currently living with the disease. We must ensure that those suffering have timely access to the treatment and care that they require.
World AIDS day is an opportunity to spread awareness and commit to continuing the fight against HIV/AIDS. We must work together to ensure that people with HIV/AIDS are able to lead full and enjoyable lives.
