The UN’s theme for World Water Day 2015 is ‘Water and Sustainable Development’. This year, we are to think about how water is linked to all of the areas we need to consider in order to create the future we want.

The aim of this year’s World Water Day is to draw attention to how water is linked to key issues that are integral to the future of our planet, including health, nature, urbanization, food systems, industry, energy, and equality.

We as Ontarians are fortunate to live in a province with vast fresh-water resources. We have a responsibility to be good stewards of our water for our children and generations to come. It is necessary to achieve balance in energy production and infrastructure development in a way that prioritizes the conservation of Ontario’s water.

The Green Party of Ontario will continue to fight for provincial legislation to protect source water in this province. In the meantime, we will continue to join our members and supporters in their local fights across Ontario.

Very little is more important to us than fresh water. We need to step up now to protect it.
