Green Party of Ontario leader Mike Schreiner issued the following statement regarding the election of four Green Party candidates to Vancouver council and boards:
“Congratulations to the Vancouver Green Party for electing four of the seven candidates running in municipal elections over the weekend.
This historic election has produced the largest Green caucus in Canada. It demonstrates the growing desire of Canadians for political action on Green issues.
Former BC Green Party leader Adriane Carr was re-elected to her city council seat. Green Party candidates Stuart Mackinnon and Michael Wiebe were elected to the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, and Janet Fraser was elected to the Vancouver School Board, where she is expected to hold the balance of power.
I look forward to the positive changes the Vancouver Green Party caucus will bring to the city of Vancouver and to Canadian politics.”
