I’m deeply disappointed to learn that the University of Guelph is closing its Kemptville and Alfred agricultural campuses. This is a blow to local food and farmers in eastern Ontario, and to Francophone families seeking agriculture education in French.
The Liberal government’s failure to fund universities and colleges is negatively affecting our economy, communities and students. Ontario ranks dead last in per student funding for universities and colleges. This must change.

The food and farming sector is the largest employer in Ontario. Yet, the Liberals continue to cut funding for agriculture education that started with the Mike Harris Conservatives. Ontario must reverse cuts to agriculture education and support for young farmers.

Our students and faculty need support. Our economy needs a well educated work force. I will continue to push the province to to increase funding for university and colleges.
