I need you to help me stand up for democracy.
Premier Wynne cynically called 5 by-elections for August 1 – choosing to ask people to go to the polls at a time when most of us are thinking about spending time with family and friends in the garden, on a vacation, or at the cottage enjoying some sunshine.
For our friends in Ottawa South, Scarborough Guildwood, Etobicoke Lakeshore, London West and Windsor Tecumseh, August 1st is when they are being asked to vote for their new MPP.
That’s right. Over the next month while most of us are enjoying the summer, with Queen’s Park out of session and politics off the radar, these 5 ridings will be in the midst of an election.
This is politics at its worst. Summer elections virtually guarantee a low voter turn out – just look at last year’s September 7 Vaughan by-election where turnout was only 25%. Lower voter turn out usually benefits the party in power.
Once again, the Liberals are more focused on their political power than what is good for Ontario.
It’s never been more clear. Politics is off the rails. Too often decisions are made for short term gain instead of for the good of the province.
I know. You know. It doesn’t have to be like this. We are committed to doing politics differently. We will cut through the BS, be straight talkers and always put the public good first.
We need your help. We need this message to reach as many people as possible.
Please donate to our by-election campaign fund today.
Your donation will help us put up signs, provide information to voters and make sure we have a vibrant online presence.
Our candidates Gary Brown in London West, Angela Salewsky in Etobicoke Lakeshore and our soon to be nominated candidates will stand up for a new way of doing politics.
Thank you. With your support, we can bring change to Ontario politics.
Regards,
Mike Schreiner
