HUNTSVILLE – Green Party of Ontario members from across the province will visit Huntsville this coming weekend, April 15 to17.
The local Parry Sound-Muskoka Green Party riding association will welcome guests to the 2011 Green Party of Ontario Annual General Meeting and Policy Convention at Delta Grandview resort.
“Naturally, we were extremely excited to have the opportunity to host this event,” said Veronica Leonard, Parry Sound Muskoka Green Party events co-ordinator. “We began preparing for this event last July.”
Weekend registrants will participate in workshops, listen to guest speakers from the local area and participate in policy discussions.
The Saturday evening gala features Felix Braz, a Green Party elected member in the Luxembourg House of Parliament.
“I’m interested to meet our keynote speaker, Felix Braz, and listen to his perspective of how influential the Green Party is in his native Luxembourg,” said Matt Richter, Parry Sound-Muskoka provincial Green Party candidate.
Ontario Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner will address the crowd after lunch on Saturday at 1 p.m.
“It’s great to be holding this event in such a lovely part of Ontario. I’m looking forward to meeting our guest speakers … who are doing fantastic work in the community,” said Schreiner.
Guests are welcome to attend events throughout the weekend. There are also a few treats for Green Party members for training, including a ‘sneak peak’ at the Green Party of Ontario platform for the fall provincial election.
The party has confirmed it will release its full platform to the public in May, following the federal election.
