Web Developer

Position Details

Location:  Ontario (this is a remote position with some travel to Toronto)

Type: Full-time, salary ($60,000-$68,000 commensurate with experience)

There are a lot of opportunities out there, but not many of them involve directly working on making Ontario a better place.

The Green Party of Ontario (GPO) is currently hiring a Web Developer to maintain our website (gpo.ca) and support database work. By joining our small, dynamic team you will be directly involved in planning, implementing and maintaining our website through to the next general Provincial Election.

We are looking for a professional with enough experience to be responsible for the management of our website and technical needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Major Tasks
Responsible for development, maintenance & administration of Party web assets.

  • Development
    • write and customize themes, plugins, modules (e.g. WordPress, Drupal, etc.) 
  • Technical Support
    • lead in the management of technical support issues
    • provide data reports
  • Web design & Content Management
    • contribute to web planning/strategy
    • implementation of content using responsive design and SEO best-practices

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated technical problem solving proficiency
  • Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with/in:
    • HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, SQL
    • working with CRMs and CMS (Drupal / WordPress)
    • writing custom code
    • GIT
  • Bonus:
    • 1+ years in a technology related field
    • Experience with Ruby on Rails, MariaDB, Python
    • Experience with CiviCRM
    • Interest in the Green Party and politics in Ontario
    • Written and verbal proficiency in French
