Syam Chandra is an engaged educator who believes in the power of young people to create change. An activist at heart, Syam wants to work hard to give a voice to the residents of Hamilton West—Ancaster—Dundas and ensure a bright future for generations to come.
With a degree in engineering and applied economics and post-graduate work in communication management, Syam has spent years in the education sector developing enrichment programs, leading global initiatives to guide students, and researching problems affecting education today. Highly engaged in his community, he was nominated as a top Canadian Youth Engagement Professional for his work on youth homelessness and served as the Hamilton Car Share Coop director.
Syam has been an environmental activist since his summer camp experiences in 7th grade opened his eyes to the beauty of the natural world and the need to protect it. His passion for creating a more equitable, greener world led him to join the Ontario Greens under Mike Schreiner’s leadership and to be a strong representative for Hamilton West—Ancaster—Dundas at Queen’s Park.
